ABC Team Takes Training to the Next Level!
We’re delighted to acknowledge and applaud the incredible dedication and effort our team has displayed in their training during the first half of 2023.
We want to take a moment to celebrate and thank our fantastic caregiving staff for the impressive investment they’ve made in their training. Depending on their roles, our caregivers are required to complete between 6-12 hours of training to maintain their certifications. Our team can choose from a variety of training formats, including onsite in-person training, online courses through our Learning Management System – RELIAS, or a combination of both. Together, our team has already completed a staggering 600+ hours of training this year!
Growing Ranks of Certified Supportive Home Care Aides
We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our number of Certified Supportive Home Care Aides specializing in Mental Health or Alzheimer’s care. Home Health Aides and CNAs who wish to become Certified Supportive Home Care Aides must attend a two-day onsite training consisting of 12 hours of classroom work. This spring, 11 more of our home care aides completed the training, bringing our total count of certified aides to an impressive 54!
Advanced Training for Home Care Aides
This spring, we also held two advanced onsite training sessions:
- Substance Misuse: “Addressing Unhealthy Substance Use: Successful Communication Techniques for Home Care Aides”
- Social Isolation: “It Takes Two: Engaging Socially with your Home Care Client”
We’re thrilled to report that 25 of our home care aides attended these advanced training sessions, equipping themselves with valuable techniques to better support our senior clients facing these challenges.
ABC Mentor Project
We’re excited to be part of the HCA’s mentoring training program, which kicked off this June. In this innovative initiative, each new worker is paired with an ABC mentor – a senior home care aide who has completed 3 hours of specialized training to support newcomers to the field of home care.
Training the Trainers
Our senior care coordinator, Candice, will be attending the upcoming “Mental Health: Train the Trainer” program, which will enable us to provide even more advanced training directly to our home care aides.
Additionally, ABC’s nurse Clare has successfully completed the revised Alzheimer’s Association’s “Person-Centered Dementia Care Train the Trainer” class. As our leader in Dementia Coaching, she has been instrumental in helping numerous families navigate the challenges of this debilitating disease.
As we enter the fall season, we look forward to more of our team members completing their training and new caregivers benefitting from the support and comradery offered by their personal mentors.
